 Excellent heavy mugs, one stupid problemAug 07, 2010
These mugs weigh a kilogram each. The specific heat of glass is about 1/5 that of water, so if your beer comes out of the fridge at 3 degrees and these mugs come out of your freezer at -15 degrees, they'll easily get everything down to about 0, maybe freeze a tiny bit of beer around the rim, and keep the whole concoction nice and cold for at least a little while. Yum!
They hold 16oz, technically. What that means is that they actually hold a 12oz beer with a little room for head and for not spilling it when you pick it up. Perfect. Don't expect to get 16oz of anything into them without a reverse meniscus.
The one stupid problem: the bottom is concave. If you put them in the dishwasher, the bottom collects a rather large quantity (about 2oz) of water-and-food-bits. This has nothing to do with the quality of your dishwasher. You just have to manually flip them over, rinse the food-and-water out of the bottoms, drain them top and bottom, and then they will dry. Given that dishwashers have been around for well over a century, I'm taking off 3 stars not because this bug is a showstopper but because it would have been so easy for them to fix: there's really no possible excuse for such a stupid design flaw.
Other than that, nice mugs.

Like most reviewers, I got these to keep in the freezer and they really are as good as the other reviewers state. They are very thick and heavy making them perfect for keeping good beer cold. They easily hold a pint with a good head. They look nice and are well made; I'd say they're definitely restaurant/bar quality. They were well packed so there was little chance of shipping damage. Of course as stout as these things are, it's probably more about protecting the shipping truck than the mugs. For the price, these mugs would be hard to beat.

I've used these mugs for a few years now, I keep them in the freezer and they are excellent, just good sturdy, thick glass mugs. I would imagine just about anyone would be happy to receive these as a gift. I like ginger ale in mine! The ginger ale gets so cold it ices up a little on the sides when placed in mugs right out of the freezer. Great mugs for any cold beverage.

These mugs are perfect for a home bar, or professional, they can fit a full beer with the perfect headroom, and get cold enough to partially freeze the foam. They stay cold for about 30 minutes after pouring, which is plenty of time for even the slowest drinker.

More than met my expectations I bought them mostly to put in freezer
to use for frosted mug for Root Beer and other drinks top notch Mugs
good and Heavy Duty surpassed what I thought they would be.
